Author Guidelines

Jurnal Ilmiah Keperawatan SHT (JIKSHT) is a six-monthly scientific publication published by STIKES Hang Tuah Surabaya in March and October. The editors accept original manuscripts that have never been published, with an academic and effective language style in the form of research results that are useful for the advancement of science and technology, especially in the field of health management.

Manuscripts in standard form (MS Word) and scientific language style, no more than 12 pages, Cambria font size 12, 1 column except abstracts and large tables, 1.5 type spacing and margin size 4 cm Left, 4 cm Top, 3 cm Bottom, 3 cm Right A4 paper. Manuscripts that have been published become the property of the editors and manuscripts may not be published in any form without the editor's approval. The manuscript is arranged according to the standard format consisting of the title of the Manuscript, Author's Name, English Abstract, Background, Method, Results, Discussion and Conclusions, and a list of cited references using Mendeley, no less than a minimum of 12 pages. A4 paper size (210 x 297 mm).

1) Title 

The title is written clearly and concisely in Indonesian and describes the main content/variables, a maximum of 15 words.

2) Author's Name

Includes the full name of the main author without titles and members (if any), name of institution/agency, author's email, and street address (city/district).

3) Abstract

The abstract must summarize the entire contents of the Article and consist of a minimum of 150 words and no more than 250 words. The abstract must follow the IMRAD format, namely Introduction, Methods, Results, Analysis, and Discussion. And added with a Conclusion. The abstract must not use illustrations and tables. And avoid using ambiguous terms or abbreviations. The abstract must have at least one keyword. Written in one paragraph.

4) Introduction

Contains systematic/sequential information about the research problem, problem scale, problem chronology, and theoretical concepts and solutions presented concisely and clearly.

5) Method

Contains: type of research, design, sampling technique and number of samples, respondent characteristics, time, place of research, instruments used, and statistical analysis tests presented clearly (if necessary).

6) Results and Discussion

Research results should be presented continuously from the main research results to supporting results which are complemented by a discussion. The names of tables, diagrams, images, schemes, contents, and their descriptions are written in Indonesian and numbered according to the order of the text. The units of measurement used in the manuscript should follow the applicable international system.

7) Conclusion

The conclusions of the research results are presented clearly. Suggestions are listed after the conclusions presented theoretically and practically which can be directly utilized by the community.

8) Bibliography

The cited sources include references to scientific journals for at least the last 10 years, around 80%, textbooks, theses, dissertations, and other sources that must be included in the bibliography. The resulting references must be cited in the Article. The sources are arranged in the APA alphabetical order, in sequence: surname, year of publication of the reference, title of the reference, edition (if any), city of publication, and name of the publisher. The number of references is at least 10 references. Articles that have been published in the Jurnal Ilmiah Keperawatan SHT (JIKSHT) are recommended for use as references. To maintain consistency in the method of referencing, citing, and writing the bibliography, we recommend using standard reference applications such as Endnote, and Mendeley.

The editors have the right to correct the writing of the manuscript without changing the contents of the manuscript. All data, opinions, or statements contained in the manuscript are the responsibility of the author. Manuscripts that do not comply with the editorial will be returned.

Guideline for Online Submission

The author should register as an Author and be offered a Reviewer through the following address: https://journal.stikeshangtuah-sby.ac.id/index.php/JIKSHT/user/register 

The author should fill the form as detailed as possible where the star-marked form must be entered. After filling out all form textboxes, the Author clicked the “Register” button to proceed with the registration. Therefore, the Author is brought to the online author submission interface, where the Author should click “New Submission.” In the Start, a New Submission section, click “Click Here" to go to step one of the five-step submission process.”

The following are five steps in the online submission process:

Step 1 - Starting the Submission: select the Journal Section (Full Article), tick all of the checklist   

Step 2 – Uploading the Submission: To upload a manuscript to this journal, click Browse on the Upload submission file item, choose the manuscript document file to be submitted, and then click the Upload button. Please make sure that the manuscript file has been uploaded.

Step 3 – Entering Submission’s Metadata: In this step, detailed authors' metadata should be entered, including the marked corresponding author. After that, the manuscript title and abstract must be uploaded by copying the text and paste in the textbox, including keywords.

Step 4 – Uploading Supplementary Files: Supplementary files should be uploaded, including Covering/Submission Letter, Statements, and ethical clearance in PDF format. Therefore, click the Browse button, choose the files, and then click the Upload button.

Step 5 – Confirming the Submission:  The author should final check the uploaded manuscript documents in this step. To submit the manuscript to Article, click the Finish Submission button after the documents are ready. The corresponding author or the principal contact will receive an acknowledgment by email. It can view the submission’s editorial progress by logging in to the journal web address site.

After this submission, the author who submitted the manuscript will get a confirmation email about the submission. Therefore, the Author can track his submission status anytime by logging in to the online submission interface. The submission tracking includes the status of the manuscript review and editorial process.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors must check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors who do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
